Founded in 2016 in Mumbai, India, and now based in Hackney, London, EAST was borne out of a love of good chocolate, and the opportunity to explore the flavours of less well-known Indian cocoa beans. We source our beans from a co-operative of farms in the hilly Idukki district of Kerala, and our cocoa butter from a direct trade, organic chocolate maker in Tamil Nadu. From roasting, winnowing and grinding the beans, to ageing and tempering the chocolate, we handcraft our bean-to-bar chocolate bars in small batches from scratch.
